What is your return/refund policy?

It is not our policy to offer returns ore refunds for Indiegogo perks once they have shipped. In the Indiegogo community, the items that you receive after making a pledge are referred to as “perks” because they are not purchases in the traditional sense. They are gifts that are sent to our supporters as a token of appreciation for their support of our business. The support we get from our Kickstarter backers is what enables us to pay for manufacturing start-up costs and perform all testing and compliance required to bring our products to market.

However, if you no longer desire to support our campaign, please reach out to us before your perk ships and we will honor all refund requests.

How did you determine shipping costs for your Indiegogo campaign?

All Zip Top containers are Made in the USA and we will be shipping all perks (including to international destinations) from our US fulfillment center. Shipping rates to various countries are based on the most reliable and economical methods that also provide tracking numbers. Because we will be shipping all perks from the US, shipping rates to international destinations are naturally higher. We are not marking up our shipping rates.

I already pledge for shipping, why am I being charged Duties and Taxes?

The amount you pledge for shipping covers our cost to transport your perks to you. Some countries will also assess Duties and Taxes upon entry to your country. This is your responsibility as it varies greatly by country. Please review the detailed information on our Indiegogo campaign page under the heading of “CUSTOMS & DUTIES INFORMATION” so that you are not surprised by these charges.

Are Zip Top containers air-tight?

Zip Top containers seal differently than traditional plastic zippered baggies which have tiny, hard, flat plastic zippers. Zip Top containers have large, soft, rounded zippers that flex. Because of this, your containers may, at times, leak a small amount of air if squeezed. In addition, once sealed, because of the pull of the wide, rounded opening, air will sometimes want to seep back in. If so, the small amount of air in your Zip Top will act like air trapped in a typical lidded container.

Are Zip Top containers leak-proof?

Zip Top containers are designed to hold liquids upright in a kitchen environment. This is why every container says on the back to “keep liquids upright” (which is simple since all Zip Top containers stand up due to their sturdy flat bases). When kept upright, Zip Top containers are completely leak proof. Zip Top containers were never designed, for instance, to fill with water and hold upside down or for taking liquids on the go.

Can I sous vide in Zip Top containers?

We do not recommend completely submerging Zip Top containers in water for sous vide or other applications. Due to the flexible zipper seal, some water may, at times, seep into a fully submerged bag. However, if kept upright with the zipper seal out of the water, Zip Top containers can be used for sous vide. Zip Top containers are also great for steaming and cooking where the zipper seal may fully or partially be left open while heating.

Are Zip Top containers dishwasher safe?

YES! They were designed for the dishwasher, so all Zip Top containers have large rounded interiors for easy cleaning. Most importantly, all Zip Tops stay wide open for better cleaning and drying! They are top or bottom rack safe too!

Are Zip Top containers freezer safe?

Yes, Zip Top containers are completely freezer safe. Our thick silicone will not get brittle from freezing it frequently. Note: watch the fill line to make sure there is room for liquid expansion.

Are Zip Top containers safe to cook with?

Yes! You can use them in the microwave, bake with them up to 425°F (220°C), or steam in them in a pot of boiling water. Zip Top containers can take the heat!

Will Zip Top containers stain?

Most foods will not stain your Zip Top containers. There are a few foods, however, which can stain pure silicone such as tomato sauces, curries, watermelon, cooked carrots and other red/orange foods. Soaking in bleach water will remove most stains. Alternatively, rub and let sit in a baking soda and water mixture. Rinse well and then wash as usual.

Can I use Zip Top containers to take soup and other liquids in my lunch box or backpack?

Zip Top containers are not designed for taking liquids on the go. Just like you would typically not take soup in a plastic zippered bag in your backpack, Zip Top containers are designed to hold liquids in a kitchen environment. This is why every container says on the back to “keep liquids upright” (which is simple since all Zip Top containers stand up due to their sturdy flat bases). Zip Top containers are wonderful on the go for leftovers, sandwiches, dry snacks, veggies, fruit, nuts, etc.

Will sealed Zip Top containers spill if they are knocked over?

In general, no. From our internal testing as well as our personal use over the past year, we have been thrilled with how well the seals hold during typical scenarios such as being knocked over. Because of the flexibility of silicone, they are durable and malleable when sealed. However, as stated above, liquids should be kept upright to be safe.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
